Postby servo » Mon Jun 26, 2006 8:32 am

Hello all, Its that time once again, the time for me to make my annual pilgramage to the burning plains of Dallas TX for qcon 2006. Quakecon has a new Home this year as well. Just putting this announcement out to see if anyone would like to join me. Slayer and Impalier went with me last year, and the previous year Synoshia and Deathdealer went with me, you can ask them what a blast it is. If you would like more info please feel free to contact me. Check out this thread on the qcon formus about the place its going to be at this year. http://www.quakecon.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5737

VERY VERY IMPORTANT if you do plan on attending this year the BYOC is half its normal size so its going to rather exclusive! if you want a Spot Register for the byoc at 9PM sharp on wensday. Please only Register if you plan on attending.

Impaler and I will be going. Our plane tickets are ordered. Servo, Impaler, and I all have BYOC spots.

ET: Quake Wars is going to be the Primary objective of this trip. We will give you all of the coverage here on -=Slayfest=-. Plenty of pics and vids.

We Left Lansing at 7:00am and Landed in Detroit at 7:30am. At about 9:00am we went to the gate for an earlier flight to texas on standby but no luck we had to sit and wait for our 12:30pm flight. I let Impaler and Servo eat breakfast at the Jose Cuervo Tequileria while we waited. Servo had a 9:30am Margarita, Then we tried to play some cards but didnt work out too well then Impaler and I played some Magic the Gathering. We proceeded over to our gate to get on our flight for Texas. I grabbed some taco bell before we had to leave then we got on the plane. I watched the Punisher while we were in the air. We had some turbulence on our descent to Dallas. We landed waited about 30min to get our bags and then got a cab to the Hilton at about 1:30. Then we had arrived at the hotel we got to our room and they screwed it up and gave us a single bed and there was no way in hell i was going to sleep in the same bad as Servo. So we called the desk and got that fixed moved 3 doors down and we had our room. Then it was off to the Pool.

I have just posted the First Batch of Pics for our trip. You will see a few pics of the Airports, Planes, The Hotel, Impaler, Servo and I. Hope you enjoy.

Sunday really sucked ass. There was nothing to do and we pretty much stayed in the room all day except for breakfast. And then ordered Pizza Hut.

Monday we actually began setup for QuakeCon we went on down to the exhibit hall and started by unpacking the servers for the BYOC and the Tournament area and then moved the boxes to the edge of the hall. Then a bit later on we got to go to ID Software HQ and check out the lobby. Soon after we headed over to the storage unit where all of the old Network cables from past QuakeCon's. It took 6 of us to lift last year

The pictures leaving are great. You can totally tell you guys are not used to getting up in the morning. Slayer and Impaler look like they are about to fall asleep.

Wednesday-

Yes we are actually QuakeCon Staff no and not just volunteers. We worked our asses off helping do setup. We basically are helping servo in shipping and recieving. We Unpack and then store empty boxes for all the monitors, towers, plasmas, and lcd's. We also store vendor goodies in lockup. We got to bring our computers into the BYOC at 6pm.

Thursday-

We signed up for the WOLFET tourney, 5 of us. Servo, Impaler, Psyn, RGWG, and I will be playing under the -=DWS=- clan tag. Psyn and RGWG are other staffers that worked on some quakecon volunteering with us. We just got out of the QCon talent show. OMG they had a cutest couple thing that got GAY really fast. Dudes were kissing and quite possibly the nastiest thing i have ever seen. I wanted to gouge my eyes out. At 7pm we will get a chance to see "An Inside Look at Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" on the Main Stage. I cant wait.

I will post more when I get a chance.

We just got back from "An Inside Look at Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" on the Main Stage. Impaler has 1 hour of footage of Quake Wars along with Q&A. It will take us at least an hour to get the video on the PC and then we need to encode.

Yes we can still steal Pants.

There Will be a PUBLIC BETA!!!!

The first map is called Valley.

Im workin on getting more pics of the QuakeCon Girls. I will upload more pics when i get a chance. The internet is slowed quite a bit.

Only 1800 users which really isnt that much. WoW and Steam are blocked along with lots of other things. Its much better now that its late.

We just got done watching the Sinus show from 10pm-1am. They played the movie Footloose w/ Kevin Bacon. They basically do a funny ass commentary and point out things you wouldnt normally notice. If i can get the video footage I will post it.

Also pics for QuakeCon Day 1 are in the Gallery.

I just watched the ET:QW presentation that can be found here. I have to say that I will never doubt them ever again, the people heading this project knew why Wolfenstein was so fun (always changing frontline, linking objectives, fast paced gameplay) and I trust them 200% with ET:QW. The new Covert Ops looks amazing, I cant wait to deploy radar behind enemy lines so I dont even have to scout when I snipe! They really made the game noob friendly though so it might be a little easier to jump into than Wolfenstein, which could be both good and bad. All the veterans of WolfET were hoping that the vehicles wouldnt be some godly force, and I am happy to say that most of the vehicles look like they can be disabled pretty quickly (if you can shoot gunz). My only gripe with what I saw was that the crosshair looks horrible, but most likely we'll be able to change that.
This is not similation.
Get ready to destoroy the enemy.
Target for the weak points of f__kin' machine.
Do your best you have ever done.
