This should work on Windows Vista, 7, or Server 2008.
- Start>Run>ncpa.cpl
- Next you need the file menu bar so press alt+n to get the Advanced Drop down. Then click "Advanced Settings" or Press "S" on the keyboard.
- The tab "Adapters and Bindings" Should be selected.
- Finally inside the connections pane promote your preferred network adapter to the top of the list. Above your vmware, wireless, and vpn connections. Click OK to finish.
You may need to change this back if you have issues with your vpn or vmware connections later on.
I had to post this because we have been scratching our heads time and again during LAN Parties. The only other way to avoid the issue above is to disable all the other network adapters.
